The STEM Capstone Lab serves as the culmination of a student's STEM studies at Bullis. The experience combines the skills, content understanding and interests in STEM-related areas that the students have build as they embark on a unique, independent, year-long research project designed and developed by them. Although topics may vary, the course provides the necessary structure and guidance for their work.
Students apply their acquired skills to see a project through from the beginning proposal to final panel presentation comprised of teachers, peers, administrators and mentors from the field. Throughout, they elicit the feedback of peers and adult mentors as they improve methods of research and design, communicate with experts in their field, and write a journal article and prepare a presentation of their findings.
